Loreto's coaching line-up… meet our coaches!

Loreto have announced the appointment of Paul Fitzpatrick as Head Coach for their First Team for the forthcoming season. Fitzpatrick, formerly of Glenanes HC,  was the former assistant coach of Three Rock Rovers men’s team and is no stranger to Loreto having acted as the skills coach to the First and Second Teams last season.

Paul enjoyed a wave of success as a player with The Glens and UCD winning 6 Leinster titles, 4 Irish Senior Cups, 6 Mills Cups, 9 Neville Cups, 1 IHL and 1 European Gold and Silver Medals. He takes over following a successful two seasons with Three Rock Rovers winning the Irish Senior Cup and Mills Cup. Fitzpatrick was captaining the very successful  O-40’s Masters in the recent European Championships in the UK.

His former team-mate Ian Clarke will be at the helm for the Second Team. Ian joins us from a successful year coaching Three Rock Men’s 2nd XI, leading them to the Irish Junior Cup Final. Ian has previously coached Pembroke Ladies 1st XI, assistant coach to the Pembroke Men’s 1st XI and is currently working with the Leinster U-16 Girls, winning 3 Interpro titles in the 4 years he has been involved. No stranger to medals, Ian has won 2x Irish Cup Medals, an All-Ireland League, 4x Leinster Leagues, 5x Leinster Cups and a Silver European medal throughout his career.

Following a break of two seasons Benjamin Epstein returns to Loreto to look after the Third Team. Epstein coach of the very successful Irish Ladies Masters O-50s (who won the silver medal at the recent Masters European Championship) will be aiming to lead the team to gain promotion from Division 4.

Former Irish International player and current Loreto 1sts Captain, Niamh Small will be staying on in the role of 4th Team Coach having successfully led them to the Division 5/6 Cup Final last season.

Further additions to the Club Coaching Team include Andy Keane who will take over from Leinster’s U-16 Manager Wendy Byrne to take on the 5th Team and Dylan Cullen who will take up his role as 6th Team Coach.

Loreto are also delighted to announce that Niall Denham has taken up the role of Director of Coaching for the Junior Section. This newly created role will focus on improving coaching standards throughout the Junior Section leading to higher and better player development. Denham will be responsible for all aspects of the Coaching programmes within the Junior Section.

Club President Deirdre Naughton is confident about the coaching appointments for the forthcoming season and the return of their First Team to the Irish Hockey League.
