Newsletter → Loreto Leader October 2014
I hope everyone is settling into the season and has enjoyed the first month of league matches. Teams are settling in and getting used to playing with one another and we’ve had a successful month of matches so far with each team coming out with some wins. Well done to our 1st XI who won a very fast-paced match against Greenfields in the first round of IHL earlier this month. To any new members who have joined in the last month, you’re very welcome to the club!
Our opening night in the Glenside was a great success… the props provided by our social secretary Orla were particularly well-received (see photos !) Thanks to everyone who made it on the night, and indeed made the night. As always, the Glenside band had us up on our feet and much fun was had by all. Orla is now busy with her social committee organising our Christmas party which will take place in the Glenside on December 6th. Put the date in your diary now – it promises to be a cracker of a night!
Speaking of Christmas, we’re looking for your help in finding our Christmas Charity Project for this year. We want to find a worthwhile cause within the local community, where Loreto players, family, friends and supporters could give a few hours of their time (and energy!) to make a difference for others.
We had lots of good news in the Club this month. Congrats to Fiona Davitt who was awarded her FIH International Umpire’s Badge, and to Sarah Scott and Wendy who coached and managed the Leinster U-16s Interpros to victory in Ulster. Following on from their excellent performances in the Interpros, congrats goes to Sarah O’Loughlin and Elena Tice from 1sts who have been invited to Irish trials next month for the Irish U18 Squad. Well done ladies!!
I hope everyone enjoyed the October bank holiday break. Best of luck in your league and upcoming Cup matches.
