Fillies update February 2011

As usual the Loreto fillies and their coaches have been busy with training, matches and tournaments.
The U16s faced an evenly matched Avoca in the Jacqui Potter plate. After going 1 down, Loreto came back to equalize with a great goal from Emma Hiney. This led to extra time & progressed to strokes. While the U16s were unfortunate with the final result, they were happy to have their first experience of strokes & played some great hockey on the day!

Meanwhile the U12s took part in the Leinster U12 hockey festival. They played 4 matches and really
demonstrated their determination progressing from two losses to a draw and then a win in their last
match. They really enjoyed the day.

The last of the league matches for the U14 and U16 matches will be played by the middle of March
and there are a couple of mini-blitzes still to go for the U10s and U12s before the end of the season.
Our plan is to keep playing junior hockey until mid-April when the school Easter holidays arrive
(provided the hockey pitch hasn’t been turned into tennis courts by the school before then!).
