Coach Profiles
Sarah O’Meara:
Sarah (aka “country”) hails all the way from Scariff in County Clare. Having joined Loreto directly from school (Ursuline Convent, Thurles), Sarah enters her 18th season with the club. In those years as a player she has been fortunate to be involved with numerous successful Loreto 1st XI teams and has accrued many domestic titles including Irish Cup (2002, 2003 & 2010), AIL Club Championship (2009), as well as numerous Leinster leagues (2000, 2004, 2005 & 2007) and Cups (2001 & 2004) titles. In 2003 she was part of the Loreto team that claimed the European Cup Winner’s B Division title in Vienna. Sarah has represented both Munster and Leinster at underage and senior level and has played with Ireland up to and including U21 level. Her biggest achievement was winning Bronze at the 1992 European Youth Olympics in Belgium with the Irish U15 team.
Sarah has recently turned to coaching and had a successful start last season with the Loreto 4ths team gaining promotion to Division 5 and winning the 5th/6th Leinster Cup. She looks forward to the forthcoming season and the challenges that lay ahead. Her motto is “work hard, play hard and then enjoy the party!”
Peter Vincent:
Peter has been involved with Loreto since 2002. He coached the 3rds for 4 years, notably when they managed to secure promotion to Div 2 & win the Div 3/4 Cup in 2003. They stayed in Div 2 for 2 years (the only 3rd team ever to play in Div 2), and actually reached the Q/F of the Leinster Senior Cup in 2005 where they lost out to Old Alex 1sts. He then coached within our Fillies Section for 3 years. He really enjoyed working with Sarah and the 4ths last year and is looking forward to another strong season from them this year. He coached in Guinness HC for some time and has also worked with the Ladies Leinster Junior Interpro Squad on a number of occassions. Peter played for St James Gate for many years. Most were spent at Div 2 level with one year in Div 1. By his own admission he was a decent keeper who also played outfield but his main attribute was his fitness, highlighted by his passion for running marathons (he has done 6). He will run in the London Marathon next year on the day of his 50th birthday.
