Hi All,
Hope you are all enjoying getting stuck into the hockey season. We’ve had a couple of great results in the past few weeks. 1st XI have been playing a stormer so far this season and are top of their division with four wins and no losses, as well as being through to the next round of the Irish Senior Cup.
2nds have fought some hard-won victories and the team is really holding its own as we settle into the season. Best of luck in your upcoming Irish Junior Cup match! Congrats to 3rds and 5ths who won their first round Cup matches, and best of luck to 4ths who take on Avoca in Cup match this Saturday. Well done to 6ths on one excellent win so far and a second round cup match soon. A lot of hard work and dedication is being put in in training and at matches and I’m sure this will pay off on the pitch in the coming weeks.
Two important dates for your diary – social secretaries Eimear Keane and Kate Kirwan have organised a fun social night this Saturday 7 November in the clubhouse from 7pm – I’ve been told there are lots of fun games planned with take away as a reward! And our annual Christmas party is 5 December… I’ve heard some rumours about the plans for this year’s party which promise not to disappoint!
We’ve had lots of good news in the club in recent weeks. Huge congratulations to Elena Tice who received her first cap as part of the Irish Senior Ladies Squad in Glasgow this week. Congrats also to Sarah Evans, Jessica McGirr, Lauren O’Leary, Sarah O’Loughlin and Elena Tice who attended Leinster U21 trials in the last week. The squad is due to be announced shortly!
Well done to 2nd XI coach Ian Clarke, Sarah Scott and VP Wendy Byrne who coached the Leinster U16s ladies team to their third victory in the Interpros earlier this month. Fantastic achievement.
