Loreto Leader – January 2016

Hi All,

Hope you all had a lovely Christmas and New Year. It seems a long time ago now as nearly all teams have a couple of matches under their belt. 1sts are continuing their winning streak with nine wins putting them top of Division 1. They were narrowly defeated in the Irish Senior Cup Quarter-Finals yesterday, and are through to Semi-Final of Jacqui Potter Cup.

The 2nds last weekend secured their place in the Semi-Final of the Irish Junior Cup following a 1-0 win against Muckross.

3rds are currently sitting fourth in their league after a couple of whopper wins already this year. Word has it co-captain Jane Salter has her eye on top goalscorer this year! 4ths and 5ths are also doing well at mid table. Hard luck to 6ths who lost their Cup Quarter-Final yesterday.

I’ve a big announcement to make – Loreto is putting on its very own ‘Let’s Dance Loreto’ this coming April 2nd to raise funds towards a much-needed new pitch in 2017. This is the club’s biggest fundraiser since ‘More Than A Name‘ in aid of our fabulous clubhouse where we all see first hand the benefits every week.

Preparations are getting underway with dancers limbering up and an organising committee busy working on logistics. There are still some spaces on the dancing panel… read on as we unveil our dancers and give more info for anyone interested in dusting off their dancing shoes.

You’ll have seen signs in the clubhouse for our sponsor Carroll & Kinsella Churchtown. I’m delighted to say that Carroll & Kinsella Churchtown is offering 10% discount on car services for Loreto members and associates. Be sure to mention Loreto to avail of the discount.

Some important dates for your diary – 1sts take on Genesis in Jacqui Potter cup semi-finals in mid February. Sunday 31 January Junior As take on Corinthians in the Jacqui Potter Cup Quarter-Finals. On the social calender, our club captain is organising a fun tournament on Good Friday – 25th March – and welcoming a team from England who are visiting for the weekend!

Best of luck to all teams on their upcoming matches!
